For the first time since 2010, Winston-Salem State will not be part of the Division II playoffs.
WSSU (9-2) was not selected as one of the six teams from their region to participate in postseason play by the selection committee on Sunday.
After reeling off a school record 31 straight CIAA wins, the Rams lost in the conference championship game 21-17 to Virginia State.
Before its loss Saturday, the Rams had established a dominate 54-8 record over the last four years.
With 29 players exiting the the 2014 roster, WSSU will be looking to reload for what the program hopes will be the start of another long run.
