DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. –Anthony Jordan rushed for three touchdowns in the fourth quarter as No. 20/21 Bethune-Cookman defeated North Carolina Central 34-20 before a Senior Day crowd of 3,661 at Municipal Stadium Saturday

Michael D. Jones (117 yards) and Larry Brihm (104) each went over 100 yards and added a score to help the Wildcats (7-2,4-1) remain among the logjam of one-loss teams atop the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference standings. Four other teams – North Carolina A&T, South Carolina State, Norfolk State and Morgan State – have one conference loss.

North Carolina Central (4-5,3-2) took a 20-13 lead on Andre Clarke’s 4-yard run with 7:32 remaining in the third quarter set up by Adrian Wilkins’ 91-yard  kickoff return.

The Wildcats tied it on Jordan’s 1-yard run with 13:50 remaining.

With the defense holding the Eagles to eight yards in the final period, the Wildcats drove 77 yards on 11 plays to take a 27-20 lead on Jordan’s 1-yarder with 3:09 left.

After Thomas Finnie stopped Wilkins for a nine-yard loss on fourth down, Jordan added an insurance on a 30-yarder with 1:13 left.

Jeremy Davis recovered an Eagle fumble on the next possession to seal the victory.

Brihm, who completed 12 of 21 for 119 yards,  took over as quarterback on the Wildcats’ third possession, and put Bethune-Cookman ahead 7-0 on a six-yard run with 4:20 remaining in the opening period. B-CU drove 89 yards in eight plays for the score.

Jones’ 43-yard run in the third quarter brought B-CU within 14-13.

The Wildcats travel to Norfolk State Thursday for the first of two Thursday night ESPNU appearances. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m.
