Alcorn State is one win away from clinching a berth in the SWAC championship game for the first time in school history.
But head coach Jay Hopson does not want the team looking ahead to Houston.
“It’s all about Alabama A&M. All that stuff takes care of itself,” Hopson said Monday during his weekly teleconference with the media. “As coaches and players, that’s how you have to be. It’s kind of coach talk, and you hear it.”
Alcorn State (7-2, 5-1 SWAC) will have the week off before their next game against Alabama A&M.
A win against the Bulldogs means a SWAC East championship.
Hopson, though, said he will prepare the group to finish strong in their final three games of the regular season.
“Certainly, players and coaches will be aware of that situation,” Hopson said. “But the reality is you got to go out every Saturday and take care of each opponent.”
