Several Southern football players could miss the entire 2014 season because they have not been academically cleared to play, according to a report.
Offensive guard Anthony Mosley, linebacker Daniel Brown, safety Renaldo Thomas and wide receiver Nico Talbert have yet to be academically certified.
Two other players who were withheld from the 45-6 loss at Louisiana-Lafayette in the season opener last week because they had not been certified — RB Malcolm Crockett and OL Terrell Lee — were reinstated for Saturday’s game against Central Methodist. Crockett rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown, and Lee entered the game at center in the first quarter after Brandon Thibodeaux was injured.
The school could seek a waiver to allow the players to be reinstated, Southern athletic director William Broussard said.
