ALABAMA A&M V. TUSKEGEE

Alabama A&M is looking to bounce back after an embarrassing loss to North Carolina A&T in the MEAC/SWAC Challenge.

Head coach James Spady said his bunch was “overwhelmed in every facet of the game” against North Carolina A&T and will use the experience to improve heading into the Tuskegee matchup.

Spady also said he will be steadfast in continuing to use two quarterbacks, saying starter  Jaymason Lee will be relieved following the team’s second offensive series by backup redshirt sophomore Brandon Wells.

Tuskegee, also coming off an opening week loss to North Alabama, are ranked the top 25 in many Division II polls.

In a rivalry dating back to 1932, Tuskegee beat Alabama A&M 23-7 last year. The Bulldogs lead the all-time series 25-21-3.

Prediction: Tuskegee 21, Alabama A&M 20.

ALCORN STATE V. SOUTHERN MISS

Alcorn State had an easy time of it against the tomato can that was Virginia Lynchburg last week.

On Saturday, they face a Southern Mississippi team that was throttled by SEC contender Mississippi State.

While Southern Mississippi doesn’t appear to be very good by FBS standards, SWAC schools haven’t fared well in these types of games.

Alcorn State is a challenger in the SWAC East but they won’t have the depth to beat Southern Mississippi.

Prediction: Southern Mississippi  27, Alcorn State 17.

DELAWARE V. DELAWARE STATE

Delaware State was held to 29 yards in the first half in a 52-21 loss to Monmouth.  They were even worse, as they gave up more than 400 yards on defense.

Delaware State starting wide receiver Malik Golson and back-up defensive end Gabe Sherrod will not make the trip to UD, Hornets coach Kermit Blount said.

DSU will have to be better against in-state rival Delaware who is coming off a 62-0 loss at Pittsburgh.

Prediction: Delaware 23, Delaware 17.

SOUTH CAROLINA STATE V. CLEMSON

Clemson’s players and coaches have spent the week talking up South Carolina State as Saturday’s match up approaches.

The No.23 ranked Tigers will be favored by double-digits at Death Valley even though they were humbled by Georgia.

South Carolina State won last week led by a solid performance by quarterback Adrian Kollock, who completed 15 of 18 passes for 160 yards in his first career start.

Prediction: Clemson 44, South Carolina State 21.
