Reports indicate that Mississippi Valley State is set to hire Wiley College (Texas-NAIA) Andre Payne as its next men’s basketball coach.
According to several news sources close to the program, Payne is expected to be named head coach at a news conference Friday.
Payne will replace interim coach Marcus Thomas, who took over during the final week of the 2013-14 season when the school reassigned then head coach Chico Potts following a 9-21 record.
In his first season at Wiley College in 2007, Payne helped lead the program to the Red River Athletic Conference Tournament Title. Additionally, Wiley College has also qualified for the National Tournament during his tenure.
