Grambling State has relived athletics director Aaron James and men’s head basketball coach Joseph Price of their duties, according to a report by The News-Star (Monroe, La.).
James said he received a letter from the president’s office Tuesday morning indicating he had been reassigned. James previously served as a kinesiology professor.
“I didn’t foresee it coming, but I do understand when you change president — I’ve been in the system long enough — a lot of times the president’s have the people they want to bring into different positions, and I do understand that,” James told The News-Star Tuesday.

Price is out after completing two seasons with a combined record of 5-52, despite helping to increase the program’s APR score enough to help make the team eligible to complete in postseason play for the 2014-15 season.
The dismissals come on the day that Cynthia Warwick, the school’s new interim president, began her first day on the job.
According to sources with knowledge of the situation, women’s head coach Patricia Cage-Bibbs will be named interim AD.
