After leading Texas Southern to a SWAC championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament, head coach Mike Davis has drawn interest from Jacksonville University for its open head coach position, media reports indicate.
As first reported by a Houston TV station, Texas Southern has granted Jacksonville University permission to interview Davis.
Davis, hired by TSU in 2012 when the basketball program was on NCAA probation, led the Tigers to a 16-2 SWAC record and regular season title in 2013.
The Tigers finished second in SWAC play this past season and earned the school’s first trip to the NCAA tournament since 2003, where they lost in the First Four to Cal Poly.
Before landing at Texas Southern, Davis led UAB to the NCAAs in 2011 and Indiana to the Final Four in 2002.
