The Southern Lady Jaguars overcame an 11-point deficient in the second half to beat Texas Southern 71-66 at the F.G. Clark Activity Center in Baton Rouge, La.
With the win, the Lady Jaguars (16-2, 19-7) clinched the 2013-14 SWAC regular-season championship and secured the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament to be played at the Toyota Center in Houston on March 11 – 15. Texas Southern will be the No. 2 seed.
Southern had three players in double figures with Kendra Coleman leading all scorers with 20 points.
“We should have been down 25 as bad as we played,” Southern head coach Sandy Pugh said. “But the kids just kept hanging in there, hanging in there, hanging in there.”
