Prairie View A&M senior triple jumper Preston Woodard will make his third consecutive appearance at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Albuquerque, N.M. on March 14-15.
According to PVPanthers.com, Woodard was able to qualify with a jump of 51 feet, 1.75 inches (15.89m) at the Samford Multi & Invitational in Birmingham, Ala. on Feb. 8, making it the 15th best jump in the country. Woodard finished ninth at the 2012 championships followed by a 13th place finish in the 2013 championships.
“I’m looking forward to Preston closing out his indoor career on a high note,” said head men’s track & field coach Chris Clay. “For him to be successful and move up in the rankings, he has to do the little things and fine tune his technique.”
Woodard is the lone representative from the SWAC in this year’s NCAA indoor meet.
