Jackson State University announced today that Rick Comegy has been fired as the school’s head football coach.
The search for Comegy’s successor will begin immediately according to a university release.
“We are grateful to Coach Comegy and his staff for their service to Jackson State,” said JSU athletics director Vivian Fuller. “We appreciate the work he has done with JSU athletics and we wish him well.”
Comegy was 55-35 in eight seasons at JSU.
The school has scheduled a 2 p.m. press conference today to address Comegy’s dismissal.

He lost to JSU’s 3 biggest rivals in 2013. JSU should have won the SWAC, but his QB gave the game away and fans weren’t happy..I was shooting the game from the JSU sideline…
