BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southwestern Athletic Conference named Prairie View A&M running back, Courtney Brown, linebacker Jamespaul Bryant, Alabama A&M linebacker, Robert Nelson, and kicker/punter, Cory Carter of Texas Southern, its football players of the week for September 2.
Offensive Player of the Week
Courtney Brown
Prairie View A&M

Brown rushed for 98 yards on 14 attempts with two touchdowns to help push Prairie View A&M over Texas Southern, 37-13. He also caught five passes for 85 yards to finish out the game with 183 all purpose yards.
Defensive Player of the Week
Robert Nelson

Nelson helped Alabama A&M capture a 23-9 victory over Grambling State to jump start the 2013 season. He finished with seven tackles, including three tackles for a loss, along with a safety.
Newcomer of the Week
Jamespaul Bryant

Bryant logged eight tackles, including one for a loss, to help power Prairie View A&M’s defense in its 37-14 win over Texas Southern. His one sack, quarterback hurry and fumble recovery helped the Panthers hold TSU scoreless in the second half.

Despite a 37-13 loss to Prairie View A&M, Carter recorded seven punts for 339 yards in the 29th Annual Labor Day Classic.
He averaged 48.4 yards a punt landing two punts inside the 20-yard line. His longest was 57 yards while posting four kickoffs for 237 yards with a 59.2 yard average. He also recorded one touchback.
