(Marion, IN) The men’s 4×400 Meter Relay Team for Dillard University qualified for Saturday’s final after finishing fifth in their heat with a time of 3:14.36 in Marion, Indiana, at the 62nd Annual NAIA Men’s Outdoor Track & Field National Championships on the campus of Indiana Wesleyan University. The Bleu Devils were able to snatch the ninth and final spot in the final. The team is comprised of juniors Emory Nash and Matthew Jones as well as sophomores Jevonte Ezzard and Darius Neely.
On Saturday, May 25, the team has a chance to officially become the top relay team in the country as they participate in the final at 6:25 p.m. EST.
On Friday, senior Jonquil Griffin leaped a distance of 11.52 meters in the triple jump, just missing the mark to advance to the finals by two slots. Also, Ezzard finished second in his heat in the 400 Meter Dash, posting a time of 48.87. His time was good enough to advance to Saturday’s final, which can be seen live at 4:40 p.m. EST.
Also on Friday, junior Courtney Henry participated in the 100 Meter Dash and finished with a time of 12.37, missing the mark to advance to Saturday’s final.
This year the NAIA is broadcasting all eight spring national championships. These broadcasts will offer fans a live video and audio stream. All eight spring events are available for the first time in the 76-year national championship history of the NAIA.
