Southern University conducted a special teleconference earlier on Monday featuring head men’s basketball coach Roman Bank along with senior guards Jameel Grace and Derick Beltran.
Banks, who earned SWAC Co-Coach of the Year honors, is in his second season as head coach at Southern. Beltran, a native of Riverview, Fla., earned first team All-SWAC honor and was named the 2013 SWAC Tournament MVP. Grace, a four-year player in the Southern program, is a native of Newark, N.J. and the teams starting point guard
Southern, the 16th seed, will face the West Region No. 1 seed Gonzaga Bulldogs Thursday at the Energy Solutions Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah. Tipoff for Thursday’s game is slated for 3:10 pm Mountain time and will air live on TBS.
