[VIDEO]: SWAC Women’s Basketball Tourney Post Game Press Conference – Alcorn State, UAPB

#7 Arkansas-Pine Bluff 50, # 10 Alcorn State 46
GARLAND, Texas – The No. 7 seed, the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff, defeated No. 10 seed Alcorn State 50-46 in the first round of the 2013 Toyota SWAC Basketball Tournament.

UAPB (12-17) will advance to the quarterfinal to face No. 2 seed Southern.

Jenise Gentry, Chigoziany Okwumabua, and Lakendra Marsh led the Lady Lions in scoring finishing in double figures.

Gentry led all players with 14 points hitting 7-of-10 from the field. Okwumabua added 13 points and Marsh chipped in 10. The Lady Lions overall shot 38 percent from the field.

UAPB won the rebounding battle, 39-27, with Jazmyne Victorian tallied seven boards.

Carolinsia Crumbly led ALCN (2-26) with 10 points and five rebounds. Tierra Frost added eight points for the Lady Braves. ALCN shot 38 percent from the floor.

UAPB trailed 23-16 at the half before Marsh connected a three to help the Lady Lions take their first lead of the night, 38-35, with 7:54 remaining.

The Lady Braves knotted the game at 44 with under four minutes in the game. However free throws from Marsh and a shot in the paint from Gentry held of Alcorn’s last charge for the final tally.
