Alcorn State, MS – The Texas Southern Tigers played one of their best games in recent weeks when they faced the Braves of Alcorn State on Saturday.
TSU had 335 yards of total offense with 163 yards coming on the ground. This was the third time Texas Southern had more than 100 yards rushing this season. The Tigers scored four times for a total of 24 points against the Braves, but it was still not enough to take home the win.
TSU had a 24-21 lead after quarterback Rudy Johnson scored on a 46 yard run in the fourth quarter. Alcorn State later scored two touchdowns to recapture the lead and hold on for a 34-24 win.
Johnson completed 13 of 25 passes for 172 yards and two touchdowns. He also had 64 yards rushing and a touchdown. James Davis had 3 catches for 57 yards and two touchdowns. Fred Plummer had 6 catches for 80 yards.
Brandon Thomas had 9 tackles while William Parker had 8. Adrian Bennett had 7 tackles and 4 breakups.
