One of the biggest positives of the Delta Devils’ 2012 season is the return of their top two rushers from the 2011 season. Junior college transfers Trey Bateaste and Brandon Stansell both return for their season year as a Delta Devil. The two combined to rush for nearly 1,000 yards last season. Bateaste, who was named preseason Second Team All-SWAC, rushed for 543 yards and three touchdowns while Stansell added 406 yards on the ground. Bateaste and Stansell are expected to again be an integral part of the Delta Devils’ offensive scheme in 2012.

MONZON TAKING OVER KICKING DUTIES
Kevin Monzon, a Marietta College transfer, will take over the field goal and extra point duties for Carlos Sanchez, who will handle the punting and kickoff responsibilities. Monzon made an extra point, but missed a 28-yard field goal in the first quarter against Alabama State last week.
