Southern University Gears Up For Coca-Cola Football Fan Fest

Baton Rouge – Southern University athletics is partnering with Coca-Cola to hold the SU Football Fan Fest 2012 Refreshed by Coca-Cola on Aug. 25 at A.W. Mumford Stadium on the SU campus.

Football Fan Fest begins a 3 p.m. and precedes the Jaguars final preseason scrimmage scheduled for 6 p.m., one week before the Sept. 1 season opener at Football Bowl Subdivision member New Mexico.

Fans attending the 2-hour event will be able to meet SU football coach Stump Mitchell along with members of the 2012 team and take pictures with select players. Mitchell, along with Chancellor James Llorens and Athletics Director Dr. Will Broussard, is scheduled to address the fans during the program portion which features a performance by the SU cheerleaders.

The Southern women’s volleyball and women’s soccer teams will be available as well for pictures and autographs in the East side stadium parking lot located in the shadows of A.W. Mumford Stadium. Fans will also receive the 2012 Southern Fall sports posters with the #StandUnited theme.
In conjunction with Football Fan Fest, Southern’s booster groups will also conduct membership drives and sponsor several fan giveaways.

Following Football Fan Fest, Mitchell and the Jaguars hit the field inside AW Mumford Stadium to conduct their final scrimmage before the season opener at 6 p.m. Fan are encouraged to make the short walk to the West Side entrance to attend the scrimmage, which features a performance by the Southern University Human Jukebox at 5:30 p.m. during team warmups.

5:00 p.m.- AW Mumford gate opens for scrimmage
5:30 p.m.- Human Jukebox performs
5:45 p.m.- Fall Sports Acknowledgement
5:50 p.m.- “Jaguar Jamboree” mock run
6:00 p.m.- 7:45 p.m.: Final Scrimmage
