MONTGOMERY – Alabama State senior free safety Kejuan Riley has been named to the Sports Network’s Buchanan Award Watch List, honoring the top defensive player in the FCS.
Riley (6-2, 208, SR, Wetumkpa, Ala.) was a consensus All-American selection in 2011 in earning first-team All-SWAC honors. He recorded career highs in tackles (75) and interceptions (nine), while tying a career-high in passes defended with 13. Riley’s nine interceptions ranked second in the FCS this season and his 17 career interceptions are tied for the most in ASU history.
The Buck Buchanan Award is named after SWAC great Junious “Buck” Buchanan, who starred at Grambling State University and was the top overall pick by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 1963 AFL Draft.
