RALEIGH, N.C. — French/West/Vaughan (FWV), one of the nation’s leading independent public relations and brand communications agencies, has been selected to handle marketing communication for the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) and its annual basketball tournament in Garland, Texas and football championship in Birmingham, Ala.

The SWAC – headquartered in Birmingham – is one of the Americas’ four Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) athletic conferences.

FWV will develop and execute an integrated marketing campaign to enhance general awareness for the SWAC brand, promote and support the conference’s athletics, and increase overall attendance and participation in the conference’s fall football championship and spring basketball tournament.

“Through our work with similar HBCU conferences, FWV has the knowledge and experience needed to execute proven tactics to strengthen the SWAC pride and drive engagement and attendance at its marquee events,” said FWV President David Gwyn. “We are excited to work with this great conference.”

FWV will handle all public relations, digital and social media, media relations, promotions and grassroots marketing for the SWAC.

“The conference and our Council of Presidents and Chancellors are excited to begin work with French/West/Vaughan,” said SWAC Commissioner Duer Sharp. “Their sports marketing and specific HBCU experience is unique and we believe they can help take the conference and our key championship events to a new level.”
