uapblogoPINE BLUFF, Ark.- The University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff Department of Athletics has released its 2012 football schedule, a schedule highlighted by four home games and one classic.

The Golden Lions will open their 2012 campaign on Saturday, Sept. 1st at the Delta Classic 4 Literacy in Little Rock against Langston University. Arkansas-Pine Bluff will then get set to open Southwestern Athletic Conference play at home against Alabama A&M University on September 8th, a game which is under consideration as a possible ESPNU Thursday night contest for September 6th.

After facing the AAMU Bulldogs, Arkansas-Pine Bluff will compete in their first road outing of the year as they travel to face Alcorn State University on Sept. 15th before traveling to Montgomery, Ala. to play Alabama State University on September 22nd.

UAPB will take on Tennessee State University from the Ohio Valley Conference on Sept. 29th in Nashville in a game that will mark the first meeting on the gridiron between the two institutions. SWAC East foe Jackson State University will travel to play the Golden Lions in Pine Bluff on October 6th. After a much needed week off, the Golden Lions will travel to Baton Rouge, La. to face the Southern University Jaguars on October 20th.

“I believe this schedule will be an exciting one for our fans,” said Lonza Hardy Jr., UAPB’s athletics director. “In addition to the usual fanfare that comes with playing our traditional SWAC foes, our new partnership with Tennessee State University has the potential to evolve into a dynamic interstate rivalry. We’re looking to add additional new non-conference opponents to our schedule in future years.”

Homecoming 2012 has been slated for October 27th as the Golden Lions will take the field against Mississippi Valley State University.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff’s last three games of the regular season will take place in the month of November with two road outings against Texas Southern University on Nov. 3rd in Houston, Tex. and Grambling State University on Nov. 10th in Grambling, La. UAPB’s home finale’, slated as Senior Day, will take place on November 17th against the Prairie View A&M University Panthers.
