GARLAND, TEXAS – The Alcorn State Lady Braves (14-19) punched their ticket to the SWAC Women’s Basketball finals with a dominating 67-41 rout of Grambling State in the first semifinal game of the day at the Special Events Center.
Fifth seed Prairie View A&M made it an all-dark horse final, upsetting top seed Mississippi Valley State 58-55 on Friday night. The Lady Panthers will face No. 7 seed Alcorn State for the SWAC Championship and automatic bid to the NCAA Division I tournament. Meanwhile, the Devilette’s season ends at 18-13.

Men
Second seed Texas Southern got all they could handle from the sixth seed Alcorn State Braves, but survived to move into the SWAC championship game with a 60-55 win.
Top seed Mississippi Valley State avoided an upset, holding off Arkansas-Pine Bluff 71-64 to advance to the SWAC Men’s Basketball tournament final to face No. 2 seed Texas Southern. The Delta Devils improved to 20-12, while UAPB ended their season at 11-22.
