GARLAND, Texas.- The University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff Lady Lions basketball team’s season came to an end on Tuesday as they dropped a 69-46 decision to the Alcorn State Lady Braves at the 2012 Southwestern Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball tournament.
ASU led 36-16 at the half and never looked back as they forced the Lady Lions into committing several costly turnovers. Jenise Gentry led Arkansas-Pine Bluff in scoring with 17 points while grabbing seven rebounds.
The Lady Lions conclude the season with a 1-29 overall record and a 1-17 mark in conference play.
Alcorn State advances to play (2) Southern on Wednesday, March 7 at 10:00AM.

(9) Texas Southern 51, (8) Jackson State 49

The Jackson State women’s basketball team ended its 2011-12 season on a sour note, as the Lady Tigers fell to the Texas Southern Lady Tigers in the opening round of the Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament at the Special Events Center. JSU lost 51-49
JSU had beaten Texas Southern twice during the regular season, but could not pull off the tournament win. With the loss JSU falls to an 11-17 overall record.
Texas Southern advances to play (1) Mississippi Valley State on Wednesday, March 7 at 5:30PM.
