The Southwestern Athletic Conference announced the 2012 All-SWAC Teams on Tuesday. The team was headlined by Mississippi Valley State senior center Paul Crosby who was voted Player of the Year by league coaches.

Crosby was ranked in the top 10 in three different categories this season. He was fifth in scoring with an average of 13.3 points per game, third in rebounding with 7.4 per contest and fourth in steals with 1.5 per game.

MVSU head coach Sean Woods was named SWAC Men’s Basketball Coach of the Year. Guard Kelsey Howard of Jackson State earned Freshman of the Year honors, while Quincy Roberts of Grambling State was named Newcomer of the Year.

Crosby was joined on the All-SWAC first team by teammate Cor-J Cox, guards Savalace Townsend of Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Quincy Roberts of Grambling and forward Quinton Doggett of Southern. Thomas was also named Defense of the Year.

A third player from MVSU made the second team, guard Terrence Joyner. Center Daniel Broughton added to the list of UAPB players to be honored, while a pair of players from Texas Southern, guard Omar Strong and forward Fred Sturdivant made the squad. Forward Ivory White of Alabama State rounded out the second team.

Guards Kevin Burwell (MVSU) and Tremaine Butler (Alabama State), joined forwards Derick Beltran (Southern) and Mitchell Anderson (UAPB) and center Philip Crawford (Alabama State) on the third team.

2012 Men’s All-SWAC Team

FIRST TEAM
Guard – Savalace Townsend (UAPB) and Quincy Roberts (GRAM)
Forward – Cor-J Cox (MVSU) and Quinton Doggett (SUBR)
Center – Paul Crosby (MVSU)

SECOND TEAM
Guard – Terrence Joyner (MVSU) and Omar Strong (TXSO)
Forward – Ivory White (ALST) and Fred Sturdivant (TXSO)
Center – Daniel Broughton (UAPB)

THIRD TEAM
Guard – Kevin Burwell (MVSU) and Tremaine Butler (ALST)
Forward – Derick Beltran (SUBR) and Mitchell Anderson (UAPB)
Center – Philip Crawford (ALST)

PLAYER OF THE YEAR – Paul Crosby (MVSU)
