In the days leading up to their match up with Tennessee State, the Murray State faithful had been reviling in the Racers’ unbeaten record and top 10 national ranking.
After ESPN college basketball analyst Dick Vitale mentioned during a January game he would love to watch a game at the CFSB Center, the fan base promptly began a social media campaign called “Bring Dicky V to Murray” for MSU’s Bracket Buster game next week against St. Mary’s.”
The school’s athletic website got in the act by selling shirts that read “LAST OF THE UNBEATEN” that would be worn by spectators during a late-season home game.
Following a 72-68 stunning loss to Ohio Valley Conference foe Tennessee State Thursday, the No. 9 ranked Racers dreams of an undefeated season are no more, and those t-shirts sales are expected to decrease in the coming days.

Robert Covington had 17 points and eight rebounds to lead Tennessee State to a 72-68 victory over No. 9 Murray State on Thursday night, handing the Racers their first loss of the season.
Isaiah Canaan had 31 points and six rebounds for Murray State (23-1, 11-1 Ohio Valley Conference), which was the last unbeaten team in Division I.
There were nine lead changes – five in the second half. Tennessee State’s bench outscored Murray State’s 30-10.
