Looking to win only their second SWAC championship, the Bulldogs rode the coattails of running back Kaderius Lacey in the first-half.

The all-conference running back carried the ball five times for 40 yards on Alabama A&M’s opening drive, including a 12-yard scamper to give the Bulldogs a 6-0 lead.

For much of the first half the Grambling State offense was inept at best. Midway through the second quarter the Tigers were out gained by the Bulldogs 155-30.

Freshman quarterback D.J. Williams went 2-of-12 for 21 yards and threw an interception.

The Alabama A&M defense has completely shut down Dawrence Roberts, holding him to 25 yards on nine carries. The Grambling offense has only converted two third down opportunities.

Bulldogs quarterback Deaunte Mason wasn’t much better playing in his first game since spraining his left MCL in the season finale versus Prairie View completing five passes for 62 yards and a touchdown.
