MONTGOMERY, Ala. — After a two-plus hour practice Friday afternoon at Hornet Stadium, the Alabama State football team will hold its second August scrimmage Saturday morning at 9 a.m.
Today’s session was held in perhaps the warmest conditions of the week as ASU practiced in shoulder pads and shorts. Head Coach Reggie Barlow said this week’s scrimmage will follow last week’s blueprint.
“We’ll spot the ball and try and sustain drives and score,” Barlow said. “We will also try and work on all game situations, especially third downs. Whatever we don’t get in the scrimmage, we’ll make sure we get those situations in at end. We’re going to try to get another 60 plays in, and keep these guys healthy.”
While looking to continue to get better, Barlow will closely monitor a few areas.
“Defensively we need to make sure we are good tacklers,” Barlow said. “Offensively, I’m looking for us to continue to run the system and play fast at a real good tempo. We’re almost there.”
