2011 SWAC Preseason Pitcher and regular season Pitcher of the Year Kimberly Spivey was named to the 2011 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I All-Region Team announced on Thursday, May 19.
The 5-foot-7, Dallas, Texas native was among the conference leaders in several statistical categories, especially during conference play. During her sophomore season , she had a 15-16 record with a 3.46 ERA. She threw 194 1/3 innings while striking out 175 batters and holding opposing batters to a .273 average.
During conference games, she held a league-low 0.72 ERA with a 9-1 record. In 67 2/3 innings pitched, she struck out 59 batters while walking only nine.
As MVSU made its run in the 2011 SWAC Softball Tournament, Spivey went 2-2 for the team throwing 31 innings and four complete games. She struck out 41 batters including 14 against Southern in a 10-inning affair and 10 during the championship game against Jackson State.
