CLEVALAND, Mississippi — The Devilettes used the love of the long ball to earn a needed 5-4 road victory over Delta State Tuesday afternoon.
Alex Robertson opened the scoring with a two-out home run to left field — her third consecutive at-bat with a home run). Nicole Burr nailed a two-run blast to center field in the sixth prior to Rashundra Brass nailing a two-run shot to left center field for MVSU (14-17).
Delta State fought back scoring a run in the bottom of the second and eighth innings while plating two in the fourth inning.
Taylor Pleasant (5-3) worked eight innings allowing six walks and striking out two for the win.
K. Herbert scored three runs for Delta State (9-20).
The Devilettes return to action as they travel to Jackson to face the Jackson State Lady Tigers April 1-2.
