Birmingham, Ala. – Southern’s Frazier Hall and Jackson State’s Quintavious Drains have earned SWAC Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for games played between March 15-21.
Player of the Week – Frazier Hall, Southern – 1B/DH/C, 6-4, 220, Sr., Baton Rouge, La.
Hall batted .813 for the week (9-11), including 2 doubles and 2 home runs. He drove in 11 runs as the Jaguars won all four games on the week. Hall also stole a base in his only attempt. For the season, Hall is batting .431, which is 29th best in NCAA Division I statistics.
Pitcher of the Week – Quintavious Drains, Jackson State – P, 6-2, 195, Jr., Atlanta, Ga.
Drains won his only start of the week, a 7-3 victory at Florida A&M. Drains gave up three earned runs to the Rattlers, but went 7.0 innings and struck out 12 without issuing a walk. He scattered 10 FAMU hits and posted a 3.68 ERA. Drains is now 2-1 on the season in 7 appearances with a 3.68 ERA. He leads the SWAC with 42 strikeouts on the season.

SWAC Player of the Week (March 8-14)
Scott Hornstra, Mississippi Valley State – 3B, 6-1, 190, Jr., Rocky Mountain House, Alberta
Hornstra batted .400 (6-15), drove in 8 runs, and scored another 5 runs for the Delta Devils as they swept Alabama A&M in conference play and finished the week 3-1.
SWAC Pitcher of the Week (March 8-14)
Ted Washington, Jackson State – P, 6-1, 200, Sr., Hollandale, Miss.
Washington threw a one-hitter in a complete-game 13-1 victory over Alcorn State. The only hit he gave up was a home run in the sixth inning. He struck out 13 batters and walked just 2 in the victory.
