Itta BENA, Mississippi — In midweek action at Magnolia Field, the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devil baseball team defeated Belhaven College 7-4.
Scott Hornstra went 2-for-4 (single, RBI double) while Matt Burton went 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Jon Neuberger went 2-for-3 (RBI single, double). Chris Norman and Jerry Hildreth each added an RBI double in the fourth inning – a frame that saw the Delta Devils push five runs across the plate.
Steven Barnes (3-2) worked five innings allowing four hits, two walks and striking out two. Ricky Hefflinger and Mark Kaplan worked the final four innings, combining for three strikeouts.
The Delta Devils return to the field on Sunday as they host Tougaloo College in doubleheader action.
