The Southwestern Athletic Conference announced its men’s basketball players of the week for games played February 8-14. A pair of Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils have earned this week’s SWAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honors.
Player of the Week
Orlando Smith – F, Mississippi Valley State (6-6, 220, Sr., Columbus, Miss.) Smith averaged 14.5 points and 14.5 rebounds in the Delta Devils two victories over Alcorn State and Southern. The pair of wins keeps MVSU tied with Jackson State for second place behind Texas Southern in the conference race.
Newcomer of the Week
Falando Jones – G, Mississippi Valley State (6-4, 210, Jr., Greenwood, Miss.) Jones averaged 20.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.0 steals, and 2.5 assists per game in the Delta Devils two victories over Alcorn State and Southern. The pair of wins keeps MVSU tied with Jackson State for second place behind Texas Southern in the conference race.
