GRAMBLING, LA – Coach Broadway was looking to make an impact and knew that there would be challenges as well as big shoes to fill when he first arrived at Grambling. He managed to do that and win two championships. His players and colleagues have come to love and admire his coaching techniques and his humble persona. Coach Broadway played a big part in the university’s “New Beginning” as a dedicated leader and mentor. Coach Rod Broadway will be returning to his home state North Carolina to head-up North Carolina A&T football program.
“I must say that Grambling has lost a true leader and a developer of young men. His record speaks for itself. He built a championship program and left us with a foundation to be one of the best football programs in the region, as well as in Black College Sports. I will miss him both as a friend and as a colleague that I could count on. Grambling provided Broadway the opportunity to bring his skills as a head coach to the national stage, and Grambling is better because of it,” states Athletic Director Lin Dawson.
“Rod Broadway is an honorable and successful coach. I appreciate the contributions he has made to our football program and players. I wish him well and much success. Grambling State University is an institution that is known to be a winner in academics and athletics. We must now look ahead and recruit the best candidate possible while striving for continued excellence throughout our athletic program,” says Frank G. Pogue Grambling State University President.
Grambling State University will be putting together a small search committee, immediately. The coaching position will be filled as soon as possible.
Bring Doug Williams back home where he belongs.
Here is an article I wrote earlier today about what Grambling needs in the next coach they interview.

Only if doug is ready to Coach and keep Coach Robs legacy alive
There is a coach in the SOUTHERN part of the state they can have. He will “guarantee” that they will go 12 – 0. Let you have him and his staff- real cheap. (Seriously, there is a “former” coach who went 12 – 5 in the Bayou Classic. He was “stupidly” let go by an AD who wanted to give his homey a job)
heck no keep stomp on the bluff we dont want him, nor his guarntees
What is it with the “sister” Schools in LA ? Why get rid of a choach who is a proven winner to hire someone else. Sure do hope GSU doesn’t go 2 – 9 next year. (Does Lin Dawson have a friend who is looking for work ?)
