The Southwestern Athletic Conference announced its men’s basketball players of the week for games played January 4-10.
Player of the Week
D’Angelo Jackson – G, Mississippi Valley State (6-1, 170, Sr., Milwaukee, Wisc.) Jackson averaged 19.3 points per game and 5.3 assists per game, and shot 53.8 percent from the field and 52.9 percent from behind the three-point arc in leading the Delta Devils to a 2-1 record during the opening week of conference play. During the week’s span of games, he ranked 2nd in the SWAC in scoring, led the league in assists, was 2nd in three-point field goal percentage, and was 10th overall in steals at 1.7 per game.
Newcomer of the Week
Kevin Galloway – G, Texas Southern (6-7, 215, Sr., Sacramento, Calif.) Galloway averaged 12.0 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 2.0 steals in leading the Tigers to a perfect 3-0 start to the SWAC season this week. Galloway leads the SWAC and is 7th in the nation in assists per game at 6.4 for the season. He recorded a season-high 13 rebounds in the overtime victory at Southern. For the season, Galloway currently ranks 9th in the SWAC in scoring, 1st in assists, 2nd in rebounding, 2nd in steals, and 8th in blocked shots.
