espnuPRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – The Prairie View A&M Panther football team will make two nationally televised appearances on ESPNU during the 2010 season.

Prairie View’s first televised contest will occur on Saturday, Sept. 25 against Grambling State at 6 p.m. during the annual State Fair Classic matchup in Dallas, Texas. This year’s State Fair Classic is highly anticipated as the Panthers won last year’s matchup for the first time since 1986. The race towards the SWAC Championship will also be at stake as the winner of this game has gone on to win the divisional title and the SWAC Football Championship during the past two seasons. It’ll also mark the first time since 2004 the contest has been televised.

On Thursday, Oct. 7, the Panthers travel to Pine Bluff, Ark. for a showdown against the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions at Golden Lion Stadium. The contest, originally scheduled to take place on Saturday, Oct. 9, will mark the second consecutive year the Panthers will appear on ESPN’s Thursday Night Football and third time in five seasons.

The Panthers are fond of televised appearances with a record of 5-0 over the past three seasons on the ESPN family of networks.

The football team won’t be the only program on national television this season as the Prairie View A&M Lady Panther volleyball team will battle Grambling State on Wednesday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. on ESPNU in the William Nicks Building. Similar to the football meeting, the winner of this volleyball showdown will hold the inside track to the SWAC West Divisional crown.

The season is right around the corner for both teams as the Lady Panthers travel to Sam Houston State for the Comfort Suites / SHSU Invitational on Friday, Aug. 27 at 9 a.m. while the Panthers are a week away from battling Texas Southern in the 26th annual State Farm Labor Day Classic on Sunday, Sept. at 4 p.m. in Reliant Stadium.
