The Alabama A&M volleyball team has its sights set on another Southwestern Athletic Conference title. The three-time defending champs return five players from last year’s squad, and welcome eight newcomers who will hopefully make an immediate impact. The Bulldogs have a full schedule, and will face some stiff competition this season.
A&M volleyball begins its 2010 slate in Atlanta, Ga. at the Georgia Tech Courtyard Mariott Classic on Aug. 27-28. The Bulldogs face UAB, Georgia Tech, and Indiana before traveling to Mobile, Ala. for the Jaguar Classic Volleyball Tournament at South Alabama on Sept. 3-4. The Bulldogs will take a couple days off and then travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala. to play the Univ. of Alabama. A&M will participate in the The Hilton Place University Tournament hosted by Charlotte (9/6-9/7), before opening SWAC play at Alcorn (9/16). Other non-conference opponents include Albany State (9/22, 11/1), Kennessaw State (9/24, 10/23), and Troy (10/6).
The Bulldogs finished its 2009 season 22-13, including a perfect 8-0 in SWAC play. A&M has won the SWAC three-straight years, and nine times overall.
