The Mississippi Valley State Department of Athletics announces changes to its 2010 football schedule. The revisions to the schedule come as renovations are planned for Rice-Totten Stadium – the home field for the Delta Devil football program.
“It is an interesting state of circumstances that has brought about the changes to the schedule,” said interim director of athletics Donald Sims. “After speaking with university administration and other professional personnel, the stadium is in the process of undergoing renovations. We hoped to have the entire process completed by November, however, we have been notified that that will not be the case. However, we do look forward to the opportunity of keeping Delta Devil football in the Mississippi Delta.”
The games that are being affected are the September 18 contest with Alcorn State (Chicago, Illinois), October 2 versus Prairie View A&M (Greenville, Mississippi), October 23 against Grambling State (Greenville, Mississippi) and the November 13 contest versus Alabama A&M (Greenville, Mississippi).
In lieu of the changes to the schedule, the date for Homecoming 2010 has also be changed. The Delta Devils will now celebrate homecoming during the October 2 game against Prairie View A&M.
