Birmingham, Ala. – Grambling State University captured the Southwestern Athletic Conference All-Sports title, the 2010 James Frank Award, outdistancing Jackson State by 7.0 points in the cumulative totals for 18 varsity men’s and women’s sports the league sponsors. Alabama State finished third overall.
Grambling’s men’s teams captured the 2009-10 C.D. Henry Award in a race that came down to the season’s final two sports, outdoor track and field and baseball. The Tigers won SWAC titles in both sports, their only two team titles of the year, to secure first place. Arkansas-Pine Bluff was second and Alabama State third in the men’s standings.
The 2009-10 Sadie Magee / Barbara Jacket Award for women’s sports ended in a tie, and the league will crown two champions in Jackson State University and Prairie View A&M University. The Tigers and Panthers finfished a single point ahead of Grambling in the standings and 5.0 points in front of Alabama State.
