GREENSBORO, N.C. – A group of eight Alabama State University Track & Field student-athletes will be among the participants in the NCAA East Regional meet at Irwin Belk Track on the campus of North Carolina A&T, Thursday-Saturday.
Participants for the NCAA Regionals (East and West) were selected based on qualifying times and distances posted during the 2010 outdoor season. The top 48 qualifying individual event marks and top 24 relay event times earned a regional invitation with participants sent to their respective regional sites.
Tokeyah Jones and Dawn Hermanes both qualified in the 100m and will be the lone representatives for the ASU women’s squad.
On the men’s side, Beldin Ferguson earned bids in both the 110m hurdles and the long jump. Delorean Peek qualified in the 400m and also is a member of the Hornets’ qualifying 4x400m relay team, which includes Charles Flewellen, Jonathan Franklin, Vincent Butler and Christopher Duncan (alternate).
The top 12 event finishers at each of the regional sites advance to the NCAA Championship slated for June 9-12 in Eugene, Ore.
