Devilettes open season with 6-4 victory

mvsu devilettesITTA BENA, Mississippi – The Mississippi Valley State Devilette softball team opened its 2010 season with a 6-4 home victory over the visitng Samford Bulldogs.

For MVSU (1-0), Tiana Parks went 1-for-3 driving in two runs while Shanika Randle went 1-2 scoring a run and driving in another. Angelia Jones finished the game 2-of-3 with two runs scored while Angelica Wade went 3-for-3 scoring twice and driving in a run. Rachelle Harris, in her collegiate start, stole two bases and got a hit.

For Samford (2-2), Amanda Jordan went 2-for-2 while Robyn Harmon went 2-for-4. Aaren Fisher scored a run and drove in two more in the game.

MVSU’s Lisa Jansen worked six innings striking out four and allowing three earned runs in the game. Kimberly Spivey worked the seventh for the save.
