coca cola logoBIRMINGHAM – The Southwestern Athletic Conference and The Coca-Cola Company announce a new three-year sponsorship agreement as the official soft drink of the SWAC.

“We are excited about renewing our partnership with one of the world’s most recognized brands,” SWAC Commissioner Duer Sharp said. “Coca-Cola is no stranger to us, having been a sponsor of our Conference and championship events in the past. This agreement further increases the profile of our great Conference and we look forward to an outstanding partnership.”

Under the agreement, The Coca-Cola Company and its Bottler partners will provide beverage products for all 18 SWAC Championships, beginning with the 2010 SWAC Indoor Track and Field Championships in Baton Rouge, LA February 27-28.

Founded in 1886, The Coca-Cola Company is the home of the world’s most ubiquitous brands, enjoyed in more than 200 countries by more than 1.4 billion people daily. Among its diverse beverage lineup of more than 400 products includes Sprite, Dasani water, Vitaminwater, Minute Maid juices, and Powerade.

“The Coca-Cola System has been a long-time supporter of the Southwestern Athletic Conference,” said Walker Jones, Community Relations Director for Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Birmingham. “We are excited to be renewing our sponsorship of SWAC for a multi-year contract. The Coca-Cola System has always believed in being a part of our communities and is excited about partnering with the Historically Black Colleges and Universities that make up the Southwestern Athletic Conference.”
