PINE BLUFF, Ark. — Arkansas-Pine Bluff has fired three assistant football coaches, two days after finishing the season with a loss to Texas Southern.
The school announced Monday that offensive coordinator Jonathan Cannon, defensive line coach Gary Harper and linebackers coach Carl Kidd had been let go. The Golden Lions began the season with a loss to Division II Arkansas-Monticello, but they rallied to finish a respectable 5-5 in Monte Coleman’s second season as head coach.
UAPB lost to Texas Southern 14-10 Saturday.
Cannon took over some head coaching duties for UAPB in 2006 when then-coach Mo Forte was slowed by health concerns. The Golden Lions went to the Southwestern Athletic Conference championship game that year.
