BIRMINGHAM – The Southwestern Athletic Conference announced today that the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff football player LB Freddy Fairchild has been reprimanded for unsportsmanlike conduct toward a Conference official prior to Saturday’s University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff – Alabama A&M football game. Additionally, the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff has been fined $1,000.
After reviewing of all information, as well as SWAC bylaws and regulations, the appropriate recourse at this time is a letter of reprimand from the Conference Office and a fine levied against the program. While this reprimand does not include a suspension, future incidents could result in a fine and/or suspension from athletic competition.
“Unsportsmanlike conduct and behavior toward Conference officials and administrators is unacceptable and will not be tolerated at anytime from our student athletes, coaches, or administrators,” SWAC Commissioner Duer Sharp said. “After our review of the situation, we have determined that a public reprimand is the appropriate course of action.
