OFFENSIVE – QB Bryant Lee, Southern; 6-3, 205; SR; Boutte, LA
Lee completed 23 of 32 passes for 250 yards and two touchdowns in leading Southern to a 21-17 come-from-behind win over Tennessee State.

Lee threw touchdown passes of 2 and 15 yards, and directed a 7-play, 65-yard game-winning drive that ended in a touchdown run with 3:47 remaining for the win.

DEFENSIVE – DE Christian Anthony, Grambling State; 6-4, 275; JR; Birmingham, AL
Anthony made eight tackles (seven solo, including 2.5 TFL), 1.5 sacks and one interception which he returned for a touchdown in Grambling State’s 27-17 win over Jackson State.

Anthony picked off a Jackson State pass late in the first quarter and returned it 30 yards for the game’s first touchdown and helped keep JSU out of the end zone until late in the game.

NEWCOMER – QB Arvell Nelson, Texas Southern; 6-4, 225; JR; Louisville, KY
Nelson completed 14 of 18 passes for 226 yards and two touchdowns in Texas Southern’s 75-6 win over Texas College.

Nelson threw touchdown passes of 38 yards in the first quarter and nine yards in the second to lead TSU to its second-highest point total in school history.

SPECIALIST – K Jake King, Alabama State; 5-11, 185; SR; Tyler, TX
King made all five PATs and his lone field goal attempt in Alabama State’s 38-6 win over Edward Waters.

King made a 25-yard field goal in the second quarter and all five PATs after the Hornets’ touchdowns in all four quarters in the victory.

OTHER NOTABLE PERFORMANCES

RB Rahmod Traylor (Alabama State) – Led the Hornets with 114 yards rushing on 17 carries (6.7 avg) vs. Edward Waters

RB Frank Warren (Grambling State) – Rushed 18 times for 110 yards and two touchdowns vs. Jackson State

WR Brian Haith (Texas Southern) – Caught 10 passes for 233 yards and one touchdown vs. Texas College

LB Adrian Hardy (Alabama State) – Led Hornets with 10 tackles including 1 TFL vs. Edward Waters

DB DeMetric Rogers (Southern) – Led the Jags with seven tackles, including two tackles for loss yards vs. Tennessee State

DB Curtis Thomas (Texas Southern) – Made two interceptions vs. Texas College

DB Kevin Thornton (Univ. Arkansas-Pine Bluff) – Contributed eight tackles (3 solos), one tackle for loss, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, one interception and one PBU vs. Mississippi Valley State.

RB Jermaine Preyear (Alabama State) – Rushed for a season high 52 yards on 11 carries (4.7 avg) with two touchdowns vs. Edward Waters

K Robert Hersh (Texas Southern) – Made all eight PATS and his only field goal attempt (35 yards) vs. Texas College
