Jonesboro, AR— The Grambling State Lady Tigers soccer team posted their first win of the season in a, 1-0, victory over the University of Central Arkansas in the opening day of The Arkansas State Red Wolf Classic. The Lady Tigers took the lead with just over three minutes remaining in the first half when Ashley Baker scored Grambling’s first goal of the season and the game’s lone goal. The Bears were never able to find an answer despite posting 16 shots (eight on goal). Grambling recorded 11 shots with eight on goal.
For the Lady Tigers Cherie Silias recorded eight saves in her first shutout of the season. UCA’s Kirby Huffstickler had three saves in the first period, with Kelsey Gochnauer starting the second half and tallying four saves while allowing no goals.
Grambling will return to action Sunday when they face host Arkansas State at 2:00 pm
