Tennessee State University head men’s basketball coach John Cooper has completed his coaching staff. The first year head coach will open the 2009-10 season with assistant coaches Travis L. Williams, Sheldon Everett and Dana Ford.
Travis Williams, a South Carolina State graduate, has served as head coach at Fort Valley State (GA) (2004-07) and stints as assistant coach at Mercer University (2007-08), Chicago State (2003-04) and Georgia State (1999-03). He played two years in the NBA for the Charlotte Hornets. In 2009, he served as head coach of the Dongguan Parklane Snow Wolf Professional Basketball Club of the NBL in China.
Sheldon Everett, is a graduate of the University of South Carolina, and served as an assistant coach for the Tennessee State women’s basketball team in the 2000-09 season. Before coming to Tennessee State, Everett served as director of men’s basketball operations at South Carolina.
Dana Ford, a graduate of Illinois State, served as an assistant coach at Chipola Junior College (FL), where his team finished third in the NJCAA National Tournament in 2009. Ford served as a graduate assistant at Wichita State and Winthrop Universities.
