Baton Rouge, LA – The Southern University Lady Jaguars soccer team reported 19 players to the campus today in preparations for the 2009 season.
Head Coach John Knighten was excited as 19 players check in Boley, Toddy and the new campus apartments.
“A new season is always exciting,” said Knighten. “Injuries really hurt us last year so I wanted to make sure we had enough players this go round.”
On tap for the 11 returnees and eight newcomers is 21 training sessions that start on Friday, August 7, at 3:30 pm on the soccer practice field adjacent from the football practice fields. SU will see five days of two-a-day sessions that will last an hour and a half.
August 17, 2009 brings the 2009 Fall semester to Southern and the first day of classes for the women’s soccer team.
“We go to our regular schedule practice time of 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm once school begins,” Knighten said.
Practice is open to the public.
