JACKSON, Miss. – After having their originally scheduled practiced cancelled because of rain yesterday, the Jackson State Tigers took to the field for their first practice of the season at 4 pm this afternoon. The Tigers, who worked out in shorts and jerseys, each ran a mile during the first hour of practice. After the run everyone headed to the weight room.
Head Coach Rick Comegy was, for the most part, happy with his first practice of the 2009 season.
“We had a good first day,” Comegy said. “I see some excitement in what we were doing today. Everyone ran the mile with good times and we then headed to the weight room. They were tired from the run, but everybody lifted and I was happy about that.”
Comegy was also pleasantly surprised with some of his offensive linemen.
“The big guys were really running today. Terrael Williams and several other offensive linemen really ran well today and I’m really pleased. We had only two or three disappointments on the field today.
The Tigers are scheduled to return to the practice field on Friday at 9 am. Day two will bring more conditioning drills.
