jsugolfer1WINTER GARDEN, Fla. – The SunCoast Ladies Series wrapped up the final round of competition at Stoneybrook West Golf Club with Shasta Averyhardt claiming her first victory as a professional taking Champion’s honors this week. The first year pro out of Jackson State University carded rounds of 72-73-77=222 to win the event at six over par on the 6,200 yard par 72 golf course.

“It is pretty exciting getting my first win. I played well the first two rounds but I had difficulty with the putter today. My five shot lead coming into the day didn’t determine how I approached the final round. I just wanted to play one shot at a time and remain focused on my game.” Averyhardt said.

Averyhardt’s finish was good enough for a one shot victory of Jackie Barenborg (Vero Beach, FL) who fired a final round one under par to move into second place at seven over for the tournament. Canadian Maggie Steciuk (London, Ontario) closed out a solid week with a final round two over par to finish two shots back in third. Round one leader Anna Green (Ft. Pierce, FL) takes home the last check this week finishing fourth at ten over par.

The SunCoast Ladies Series is a developmental golf tour for female professionals and amateurs who aspire to play on the LPGA Tour. The series is based in Orlando, Florida and operates in the surrounding cities of Orlando and Tampa.

The SunCoast Ladies Series returns to the links July 14-16 with Forest Lake Golf Club in Ocoee hosting the Series.
