BATON ROUGE, LA – After two days of action in the SWAC East-West Tennis Roundup, the Southern women’s team as well as the men’s teams from Grambling State and Univ. Arkansas-Pine Bluff still hold on to perfect records.
Coming into today’s competition with three wins from yesterday, the Southern women posted another win on Saturday to go 4-0 in the tournament thus far. Alabama A&M (2-1), Grambling State (3-1), Jackson State (2-1) and Prairie View A&M (3-1), have each dropped one game in two days of competition. Alcorn State is 2-2 as of Saturday while Mississippi Valley State and Univ. Arkansas-Pine Bluff are each holding on to one win.
Alabama State remains winless in the roundup.
For the men, both Grambling State and Univ. Arkansas-Pine Bluff posted two wins on Friday and again on Saturday to go 4-0. Standing at a respectable 3-1 are Prairie View A&M and Southern. Alcorn State posted a win and a loss each day and carries a 2-2 record through two days.
Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Jackson State and Mississippi Valley State, have yet to post a win in the competition.
Tomorrow, March 1st, is the third and final day of the competition. Play will begin at 9 a.m.
